Clemenger BBDO Melbourne Wins IAB Creative Showcase “Best of the Best”
International Panel of Judges Selects Winning Campaign to Attend IAB Mixx Awards in NYC
DATE: 11 July, 2014
IAB Australia held its end of year Creative Showcase event this week to select the “Best of the Best” from the FY13/14 rounds. Creative Showcase, now in its ninth year, celebrates cutting edge creativity and innovation in digital marketing. The finalists – the 6 winners of the Creative Showcase Round 8 – included Clemenger BBDO, Circul8, Leo Burnett, M&C Saatchi and VML Australia. Clemenger BBDO Melbourne, with their campaign for The Melbourne Remote Control Tourist, was announced as the winner at the Creative Showcase cocktail evening hosted by Innovid on 10 July in Sydney.
Clemenger BBDO was selected by an esteemed international judging panel representing the cream of the crop of global creative agencies, including: Digitas France, Ogilvy & Mather Japan, 358 Finland, McCann Worldgroup US and DigitasLBi UK, and more (see full list below).
All of the finalists’ campaigns were examples of Australian creativity at its finest. However, the judges selected the Melbourne Remote Control Tourist campaign to be the “Best of the Best.” The campaign combined a live streaming web experience and four real city explorers out on the streets of Melbourne, controlled entirely through social media, who carried out thousands of requests – from making pizzas and trying on dresses to discovering secret gigs. The judges were impressed that such an ambitious, innovative concept was executed in such a simple and clever way.
The winners will be automatically entered into the IAB US MIXX Awards in New York City, and will receive flights for two people to attend in September, 2014. Australians were extremely successful at last year’s MIXX Awards, taking home a total of nine Gold Awards and two Silver Awards – more than any other non-US country.
IAB Australia’s Creative Showcase program is a bi-monthly competition series, sponsored by Innovid, and accepts entries for work completed in the two months prior to close of judging for each round. The next round, 9.1, opens in late July, 2014.
“IAB Australia is committed to championing creative excellence in interactive advertising,” said IAB CEO Alice Manners, “and are actively innovating and updating our awards programs to reflect the needs of our industry. In the meantime, we are pleased to be continuing our Creative Showcase program, and to support the fabulous awards programs hosted by other industry leaders.”
