Sydney, Australia, April 20, 2012 – Yahoo!7 today announced upgrades to its Seven News app for iPhone and iPad. Since its launch in 2011, the free news app has amassed more than 410,000 downloads with over seven million page views per month.

Included in the upgraded version is a full-featured, five day weather and rainfall forecast with added GPS targeting, a personalised home page allowing users to customise the news categories that appear on the ‘Top Stories’ home screen, and a function for saving news stories in the ‘My Stories’ section for later reading.

The upgraded app will also allow Australians to get involved with reporting the daily news, with the ability to send pictures and videos directly to the Channel Seven news room.

“We’ve seen a large increase in user engagement levels since the launch of the Seven News app last year. One of the great things about apps is that people actively provide feedback and suggest improvements, many of which we have built into this new release,” said Sue Carter, Head of News, Sport and Information, Yahoo!7.

“The upgraded app will capitalise on the features that our existing users love, such as the ability to stay in touch anytime, anywhere with local, national and international news, while the added extras and social sharing elements will help reach additional viewers who crave quality content and entertainment from their various digital devices,” Sue said.

To download the Seven News app, free of charge, please visit the iTunes Apple store.
