Council Member of the Month: Irene McMonnies

Posted by IAB Australia On December 07, 2016

Each month the IAB profiles a Council Member working hard to proactively define the future of digital advertising. This month we profile Irene McMonnies from IAB’s Regulatory Affairs Council.

Name: Irene McMonnies

IAB Council: Regulatory Council

Involved in the IAB Council since: 2016

Day job + company: Corporate Counsel, Nine Network Australia

I joined the Council because: A colleague at Nine’s digital entity, Nine Digital, asked me to join the Regulatory Council along with her as part of integrated workstreams across our online and broadcast content platforms.

Recent key projects the Council has accomplished: The Regulatory Council has undergone a recent refresh, and updated its Purpose and Mission statement. The key focus of the group will be to develop and advocate policy positions in the interests of the IAB and its members regarding the digital advertising industry.

Upcoming projects the Council is currently working on: The Regulatory Council is currently undertaking an environment scan to map material opportunities and risks associated with digital advertising. This will feed into a strategic work program for the group in monitoring and addressing policy and regulatory issues impacting the Australian digital advertising industry.

What excites me about digital: Marching into the unknown! And navigating the regulatory settings applied to digital compared to our traditional media whilst the dividing line between them becomes increasingly blurred.

If I wasn’t working in digital, I would be: Chasing after my three kids on the beach at Freshie.
