Council Member of the Month: Rick Gleave

Posted by IAB Australia On October 06, 2016

Each month the IAB profiles a Council Member working hard to proactively define the future of digital advertising.

Name: Rick Gleave

IAB Council: Audio Council

Involved in the IAB Council since: On and off since 2003 and working with the IAB UK & AU. Covering the MAC and most recently as chair of the audio council.

Day job + company: Director of Business Development & Partnerships – Pandora ANZ

I joined the Council because: I took the role of chair of the audio council in order to drive and educate the market on the changing and disrupted world of radio. The migration from traditional radio to streaming is happening and with it a plethora of exciting new commercial and data opportunities. As an experienced & accomplished story teller in emerging technologies and monetization I could not resist the opportunity!

Recent key projects the Council has accomplished: We are proud to launch in market this week The 2016 IAB Audio Advertising Industry Survey. A first for the AU market place thanks to the healthy collaboration of council members from both traditional and streaming radio players.  An excellent opportunity to educate, handhold and drive awareness of the power of audio advertising. A medium that will show significant growth in the coming years.

Upcoming projects the Council is currently working on: The release of the data from our Audio Survey later this year and this will be followed up by our view on Podcasting Guidelines.

What excites me about digital: The industry we have chosen to work in is evolving at the rate of knots, in terms of product enhancement and with that endless new exciting commercial opportunities. I am also lucky enough to part of progressive streaming business that believes in constant investment in this evolving tech era and truly understanding the needs of consumers, UX, creativity and the strengths of what data driven mindsets can bring to table.

If I wasn’t working in digital, I would be: A world traveler exploring differing cultures, food and wine … good for the mind and soul!
