IAB Blog Guidelines

Submitting blog articles to the IAB Blog

To ensure the IABlog represents the broad voice of the online advertising industry, we welcome submissions of blog posts from IAB members or experts within the industry.  Once you submit your blog post, an IAB staff member will review your post before it goes live. To ensure an easy progression, please read the following:

Guidelines for a successful post:

  • Focus on your area of expertise. Your post should deal with online advertising / issues either in Australia or worldwide. We recommend that you focus on your own area of expertise, as this will allow you to provide useful and practical content to our readers.
  • Reliable and good content. To ensure reliability is provided to the reader, we encourage trend topics, latest news, case studies, practical and useful advices and points of view using your own tone of voice, humour, taking a stand and writing in your own personal style.
  • You should aim to write 500 – 750 words per post. You are welcome to write anything shorter or slightly longer, however we recommend that you do not write anything over 1000 words.
  • Get straight to the point. If you include your main points at the beginning of your post, chances are the reader will read your post all the way to the end!
  • Be original. Your post should not already be published or a duplicate of any other third party site. However, there may be exceptions if you have your own personal blog; simply get in contact with us for approval.
  • Examples help your message. Ones that are from your own company are welcome; however your post should not be promoting a product or service that you are associated with. See this post on how to use company related examples.
  • We accept the following formats of content: blog posts, videos, podcasts, surveys, links, images, whitepapers, infographics and slides/presentations
  • Reference. If you are using quotes and/or facts from third party websites, you will need to reference appropriately (source and hyperlink is recommended)
  • No negativity. You should not be overly controversial (unless you have a good reason) or write negative comments. If we feel your post negatively affects a specific company or person, your post will not be published.
  • Promote the industry. Post should seek to promote the industry and the development of online advertising by sharing information to other industry people.

If you are interested in becoming an IAB Blogger, would like to submit your post or if you have any questions, please contact blog@iabaustralia.com.au
