March 23rd, 2012 – InMobi, the world’s largest independent mobile advertising network with offices on five continents, has entered Thailand. An important part of the next phase of InMobi’s global expansion plans, the in-market team will help InMobi better address the needs of its Thai customers and partners.

“Thailand has always been a thriving mobile market, and the space continues to grow. Setting up local operations in the country was a natural step towards better supporting our clients and leveraging the opportunities presented by the exciting country,” said Phalgun Raju, Regional Director and General Manager – Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Taiwan for InMobi. “We look forward to growing the mobile advertising mix of digital spend in Thailand, working closely with top agencies and brands.”

In the fourth quarter of 2011, InMobi served two billion mobile ad impressions in the country. This is six times the number served during the same period in 2010. As Thailand’s mobile market has grown, it has also become more sophisticated. Q4 2011 saw 43% of ad impressions served on smartphones – a tenfold increase over the same period in 2010.

Nokia continues to lead the mobile phone market, although its market share has dropped from 62.6 percent to 43.9 percent. Samsung comes second, having increased its market share to 27.1 percent from 15.5 percent. Apple holds third place, gaining ground to 13.2 percent from 5.5 percent previously.

InMobi has run campaigns for Thai clients such as Nike, Malaysian Airlines, Mazda and Nokia and now looks to strengthen and grow these and new relationships with dedicated in-market resources. Given InMobi’s global scale and knowledge about the local market, it is better placed than ever to be the mobile ad network of choice for companies looking to reach Thai consumers.
