Monday, 4 February 2013: Mi9 today announced the full commercial launch of Nine’s TV app Jump-in and the introduction of an iPhone app. The social TV app will now offer advertisers a portfolio of tailored brand and consumer opportunities to reach and engage with their target audience across iPhone, iPad and Windows 8 devices.

Launching today ahead of The Block All Stars which premieres on Nine tonight, Jump-in will allow viewers to get a bigger experience of the show including 360° room tours and room reveals, latest news about the stars, vote for and comment on their favourite rooms, enter competitions, catch-up on missed episodes, see what the judges and past Blockheads are saying about the All Stars and get social with friends and other fans.

For sponsors of the show, iSelect, iiNet and Suzuki, Jump-in provides a range of immersive experiences including sponsored features, branded content and tap-and-touch panels to launch branded content.

iSelect has sponsored the “Viewer’s Choice Poll” feature where viewers are invited to vote on their best room giving voters the chance to appear on the finale of the Block and win $25,000 off their mortgage.

iiNet is the sponsor behind the app’s immersive 360 degree room tours. These feature hot spots highlighting products within each room and a daily quiz for the opportunity to win a technology related prize.

The “Drives the Block” display panel, specially created for Suzuki, reveals video and content on tap; a surprise competition will also be introduced later in the series.

“Jump-in goes beyond social interactivity and provides TV viewers with more. People want bigger viewing experiences and to get inside their favourite shows, connecting with the stars and getting all those extra bits of information to give them one-up on their mates and other viewers” said Matt James, Managing Director of Mi9 Media.

“This, in turn, will provide a strong platform for brands to connect with highly passionate, loyal and engaged TV fans to drive deeper consumer relationships across multiple devices.”

Jump-in will be available for all Nine’s top tier shows this year, along with selected Go and Gem programs with five new shows being added to the app each week. Mi9 will work closely with Channel Nine and Powered to provide the best Jump-in solutions for each advertiser.

Consumer awareness and engagement with Jump-in will be driven by a range of marketing and promotional activities during 2013 which will deliver ‘bigger experiences’ to dedicated TV fans through the app. The “Jump-in button” will appear regularly during Channel Nine broadcasts, inviting viewers to hit the button on the app and enjoy exclusive Jump-in experiences; connecting with the stars and receiving behind the scenes information that will put them cleverly in-the-know.

The first phase of Jump-in launched for iPad as a trial during the 2012 Olympics coverage on Nine. The TV network has now officially launched the full version of the app ahead of the 2013 ratings season.
