News Corp Australia has today announced a new free weekly publication titled The City available from Wednesday 26 March to those living and working in Adelaide city. The publication, which replaces the City Messenger, will be edited by Kara Jung and have a circulation run of 25,000. News Corp Australia’s regional director – SA Ish Davies said: “The launch of the City shows News Corp Australia’s commitment to print and to the Adelaide market. The Adelaide CBD has a residential population of 20,000, an employee population of 120,000 and a student population of over 80,000. There is immense opportunity to engage this audience with a publication that entertains, informs and provokes discussion – this is what the City will do.”

The recent results from EMMA has seen The West Australian topping the nation in print audience growth. According to the release: “Figures for the 12 months to January 2014 show the number of people reading the print edition of The West Australian at least once a week increased 5.5% since the 12 months to June 2013 report”. Publishers, agencies and advertisers have joined with the MFA and AANA at IAB Australia’s Town Hall meeting to discuss the way forward for online audience measurement in Australia. The event, which was attended by 110 industry representatives, but excluded measurement vendors, explored in a free and frank discussion the issues identified by IAB Australia in its Positioning Paper on the tender process, audience verification and viewability. IAB Australia also announced the timings for the Online Audience Meaurement tender process, noting it will release its invitation to tender documentation to vendors on 28th April 2014 and that it will host a vendor briefing on 1st May 2014.
