2013: Biggest Search Geeks Unveiled. Marin Software

Australia – Marin Software, provider of a leading revenue acquisition management platform for advertisers and agencies, and SMX West today unveiled the top 10 ‘Biggest Search Geeks’ from across the globe. A record number of competitors entered this year with Australia taking out 8th place.

A challenging quiz was available to entrants in participating nations who felt that they possessed the knowledge and mental fortitude to answer 20 questions about some of the most granular aspects of search marketing. An American, Renato Del Vento an account manager at Adlucent, took out top honors with a high score of 84 percent; he puzzled out the answers to the quiz’s questions in 5 minutes and 39 seconds.

“Being named this year’s biggest search geek by Marin Software and SMX is an honor, especially given how many participated in the contest” said Renato. “Search marketing is a passion of mine and the Biggest Search Geek contest is a fun way to see where I rank up among my peers.”
Australia’s Lawrence Yang, performance director at FirstClick Consulting finished in 8th place with a score of 65 percent, hopes to take out next years’ title. “As a professional marketer, winning the next annual Biggest Search Geek title would truly be a testimonial of my skills in the industry. I think I can bring home the gold for Australia later this year.”

Marin Australia is calling out for more Aussies to enter next years’ competition. “It would such a coo to see an Aussie take the title out later this year so we are encouraging more Australia’s to step forward and get their Geek on,” said Nick Gill, Managing Director of Marin Australia.

Renato’s prizes for winning the competition were round-trip tickets for two to SMX West, and an iPad mini. The Biggest Search Geek contest’s second and third place finishers, Ashley Kennedy of Amplify and Michael Freeman of Shoretel, also received iPad minis.

The competition is over but the quiz is still live for those remaining search marketers who want to test their SEM knowledge.
